“Olive Tree” – Ring a Week 2/52

I’ve been flameworking borosilicate glass trees for mixed media canvases, so a much smaller version was created for the second week of RAW, the Ring a Week Challenge.

Here are some canvases with similar trees for a “Tree of Life” Series and a Triptych called “Wardrobe Malfunction” for the Works of Heart auction benefitting The Child Advocacy Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Every year, the Memphis College of Art main gallery is filled with striking “works of heart” by talented regional artists. Over 100 artists pour their heart into the creation of a piece especially for this event. Each is given a wooden heart as inspiration–many incorporate it into their work, and virtually all the art is heart-themed. The artists creatively meet the challenge of reclaiming their heart in intelligent and provocative ways.
